Connections to the Workplace

Are you finished post secondary and ready to embark on your career? Considering a paid internship? Come to The Youth Employment Centre to find out about Connections to the Workplace, a twelve week work experience program in your chosen industry.

Drop in to YEC to learn more about the program and meet with the coordinator Wednesday, May 3 from 1-3 p.m. Our address is 2nd floor, 315-10th Avenue S.E.

Career Café - Careers in the Film and Creative Industry

Yes, you can make a living as an artist in Calgary! Come to the Central Branch of The Calgary Public Library, Friday, May 5 from noon to 1 p.m. to learn about careers in the Film and Creative Industry.

Find out about working behind the scenes in the film industry, arts administration and performing arts. Learn about career paths and how to establish yourself as an artist in the city.

Career Café is presented by The Career Development Association of Alberta, The Calgary Public Library and The City of Calgary Youth Employment Centre. Career Cafés will take place at the Central branch of The Library, (1st floor, 616 MacLeod Trail S.E.) and will cover a variety of career development topics and labour market information throughout the year.

Discovering Your Opportunities

Discovering Your Opportunities, a four week summer employment and life skills program for pregnant or parenting moms ages 15-19, runs from July 3- 28, 2017. This program is a great opportunity for youth to achieve high school credits, earn some money, and gain valuable work experiences.

Classroom topics include career planning, employer expectations, workplace safety, job search strategies, and some fun activities. With a focus on the work experience placement, participants are matched with a business and will work at that business part-time for the duration of the program.
