You want to catch the recruiter's attention and keep it for as long as possible. Sometimes this may mean highlighting the work experience and education you have. At other times it might mean highlighting skills you may have developed through other avenues.
A chronological format might work for some people and for some jobs you want to apply for, and not for others. Check out our section on résumé formats and find out how to determine which format is the right one for you. And forget the alphabetical arrangement, unless you are applying for a job as an indexer.
